Automotive Technology

The Pratt Community College Automotive Technology Program prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, service, and maintain all types of automobiles. It includes instruction in brake systems, electrical systems, engine performance, engine repair, suspension and steering, automatic and manual transmissions and drive trains, and heating and air condition systems.

PCC’s Automotive Technology Program is a hands-on program which meets the requirements for Master Automobile Service Technology Accreditation—the highest level of program accreditation recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).  Automotive technology students work in a shop environment; the environment includes current industry-level equipment. The qualified faculty are ASE certified master technicians who update their knowledge and skills through professional development and automotive industry opportunities.

On campus students work in a live shop, completing work for customers. Instructors and students at all locations may participate in car shows and other networking/recruiting activities. All these experiences prepare students to test and become ASE student certified prior to graduation, enhancing the students’ earning potential and career opportunities.
